Friendship Circle members once again smashed through boundaries and challenged perceptions when they got to experience the thrill of being behind the wheel of a racing car at the 3 Sisters Circuit in Wigan.

Facilitated by the Speed of Sight Charity, people with various disabilities were given the chance of a lifetime to drive a specially adapted vehicle around a professional race track. Everyone had an amazing day, as you can see by the sheer joy and happiness on everyone’s’ face!

Driving alongside an instructor, members could choose how fast they went, no matter what their disability was.

It was the first time Emma Herbert had driven a car. She said ‘I can’t believe what I achieved today and can’t wait to tell my mum about how fast I went. I feel so proud of myself. I absolutely Ioved every minute of it and wished I could do it all over again!'

Claudia Edelman was one of 20 members who took part. ‘All my life I’ve been told I couldn’t do things because of my disability. I feel so happy that I’ve been able to take part today. The Friendship Circle has given me the opportunity to do all sorts of things that I never imagined I’d be able to do before. Now I’ve got all these friends, It feels great!'
